Join Our Trust
Marish Academy Trust was formed in 2012 when Marish Primary agreed to support Willow Primary as a sponsored academy. We are proud of our journey from special measures to consistently good, but our greatest achievement is that we have been successful in our core aim of raising aspirations for all primary children in Slough, not just those in our schools.
We are not in the business of sweeping in and taking over schools, restructuring and changing everything to our model, increasing turnover and becoming more corporate and business like by the term. Instead, our core purpose is school improvement with the aim of securing the best possible outcomes for all our children by working in genuine partnership with schools and their communities
Our focus over the last thirteen years has been on nurturing families and so improving outcomes for all the pupils in our two schools. We have not considered expansion for expansion’s sake, or even to secure the long-term future of our Trust. We are only now including a third school, because they sought us out and asked to join our trust.
Marish Academy Trust is a different type of multi-academy trust: remaining child centred at all levels we are values-led, not business-driven. Some examples of how this looks in practice are given below:
If a child turns up at our doors, over numbers and with additional needs, our priority is always how can we make room and provision, not, where is the money to support them coming from?
If a school seeks out our support, our approach is always to assess can we help them, not to consider what advantage we are going to gain out of this partnership or to insist they must join our trust.
This approach has some disadvantages, no doubt: we are not the biggest and most financially dynamic of Trusts. Nor can we promise what is going to happen when you join us, because as the Trust grows our model will have evolve and change. However, in terms of making a difference to the communities we serve, raising aspirations, improving outcomes and changing life chances, Marish Academy Trust is very successful.
